The text-based artificial intelligence (AI) platform ChatGPT is all the rage these days, as people discover they can use it to write anything, including jokes, poems, stories, cryptocurrency price predictions, or even to explain Bitcoin (BTC) as a 1920s mobster would.

Indeed, to shed some light on the most recent blow to the cryptosphere, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordering the crypto trading platform Kraken to suspend its staking services in the United States, Finbold asked ChatGPT to explain bitcoin in the style of a 1920s mobster.

As it happens, the AI did an excellent job, employing the vocabulary, phrasing, content, and sentence style of movies and shows featuring organised crime syndicates from the “roaring twenties” era that dominated the American landscape at the time.

Telling it like a mobster

The AI continued to explain the main advantages of this type of money, using relatable and simple terms for a mobster:

First and foremost, it is completely anonymous.” Because no one knows who’s making the transactions, it’s a pretty sweet setup for us. Second, it is decentralized, which means that there is no single person or bank in charge; everything is run by the people who use it, get it? What’s more—the best part? It is completely undetectable. No government, no bank—no one knows where the bitcoins are coming from or going. “It’s as if we have our own little shadow economy.”

Finally, in the manner of a cautious 1920s mobster, ChatGPT warns his fictitious boss about the importance of understanding the potential risks of dealing with Bitcoin while emphasising its benefits:

Now, the value of a bitcoin can fluctuate just like the stock market, so you have to keep an eye on it.” However, if you play your cards correctly, you could end up with a very nice payout. “Remember, it’s a risky game, and you have to be careful, or you’ll lose everything.”

Conclusion

Despite the comedic value of having ChatGPT role-play as a crook from the early twentieth century while describing a very modern concept, its educational purpose is easily discernible, thanks to the humorous and straightforward approach to explaining Bitcoin to someone who knows nothing about it.
